Launched in 2007 as Monday Murkage, the brand was created by a collection of DJ’s, MC’s, Producers and Creatives (now widely known as The Murkage Cartel) to create a different experience to the the uninspiring “Student’ nights occurring daily in Manchester. Known since 2009 as simply ‘The Murkage Club’ the event is now established as one of the North West’s most popular alternative club nights, winning the MEN’s highly regarded ‘Most Exciting Club Night Award’ in 2010 and gaining international attention in 2011 with the formation of the Murkage band and the release of the acclaimed debut EP ‘Default Sovereign’.

Since then Murkage has invaded Europe with their brand of high octane earthquake-sized electronica and massive drums at numerous big name festivals including Eurockeennes in France, Dour in Belgium, Splash in Germany and a historic mainstage performace at last summer’s Parklife Festival in Manchester. They are currently putting the finishing touches to a new record which is scheduled for a September release.

The Murkage Cartel have enjoyed similar success as collective with regular shows and release airings on 1Xtra. Notably a month of Friday night slots on Semtex’s show labeled the The Murkage Cartel Xtra Talent Show.

The Murkage Club encompasses the talents and successes of the entire Murkage movement into one space for a unique and anarchic showcase of talent that deftly destroys lazy catergorisation. Over the past 5 years they’ve seen some of the worlds most exciting acts perform within the walls of the Murkage Club including Todd Edwards, Oneman, Wiley, David Rodigan, Benga and Mr Ozio to name a few.

Easter Saturday, 30th March, sees the Murkage Club’s debut in the capital. Brought to you by Murkage, The Murkage Cartel DJ’s and special guests Queenie, Mamiko Motto plus the legendary Sticky. Also, in typical Murkage fashion – there will be a very special guest sneaking through in the early morning.
